While I’m on a Chef Tom kick…
I dug up these portraits of Chef Tom, his partner and lovely wife, Andi, and their stinkin’ cute kiddo.

Partially because I ran into Chef Tom of Ultimate Cuisine last week and partially because I’m famished, it seemed like a fabulous idea to post these right now! And it tastes even better than it looks. mmmmmmmmmm
This shot was taken back in 2005 and is still one of my favorites. And that giant dog is my parents’ dog that I grew up with. I got a huge kick in my teenage years out of walking a dog that weighed more than I did! He’s no longer with us, but boy was he a riot.
I actually got dressed up and went out for Halloween. For the first time in. five. years.
Anyway, Kerry and I attended a party hosted by Fashion Industry Gallery in Dallas and had a blast.
Decor.
Lights outside the building. The little white light is the moon.
Self-portrait. Yes, in the restroom.
Girl talking on phone in "office" (restroom.)
Appropriately Halloween-creepy.

While hunting for houses in Houston back in July, I claimed one night for myself and attended an art show in Huntsville I’d been long anticipating. Braving vicious thunderstorms, Kerry, Heather, and I made the long drive up from Houston, made even longer by the stop-and-go traffic that hindered our egress through the heart of the city, the blinding sheets of rain, and an almost palpable fog at times. At some point north of Houston the rain cleared suddenly, sunshine broke, and we flew the rest of the way.
The first annual counter-culture art show of Huntsville featured the works of Kevin Sechelski, Jamie Winn, Beeks, Jody Donaho, Jeru Gabriel, Y. E. Torres, and Julie Zarate. It was a bit smaller and less populated than we expected, but we had a splendid time anyway. The after party was a blast, too. I know it’s been f.o.r.e.v.e.r. but I just wanted to share images of the lovely Julie Zarate and Jamie Winn with their respective work.

This is hands down the largest mimosa I have ever seen in person. It’s sitting right off 287 at a rest stop somewhere between Fort Worth and Wichita Falls. (I know: that’s helpful.) It’s utterly breathtaking! There was just no way for me to do this beautiful tree justice in just a few quick snaps. I’ve included one with Ryan standing in it to try and put the size in perspective.
So, I decided that before leaving Houston we should hit the beach at least onece. Along with a couple friends and their kiddos, we made the trek to Galveston. (I did NOT attempt to take all three children by my self. Ha!) We had a splendid time. Rixie was pretty scared of the water. Riley was in Riley heaven burrowing in the sand. And Bryndel was absolutely hysterical standing on the edge of the water. She’d wait for the waves to come in and crash into her, bowl her over, knock her into the sand, get salt water in her eyes and her mouth, and then stand up and do it all over again. Fortunately, there were no sunburns to report. However, Riley and I both gashed our feet on sharp objects in the sand at precisely the same time, at least thirty feet apart. We had to get bandaged up by the cute lifeguard. Oh no. :P
Here’s a shot I caught in the private stairwell leading to the penthouse at The Stoneleigh last year.
Alright, I couldn’t resist. I need to add these to the images from neopopstreetfunk. I spent a few minutes with a rather drunken artist by the moniker Beeks. Apparently drunken artists make compelling subjects. Observe:
